The detainees of Panama ask the European Community that it suspend all transfers of money and help to the Panamanian Penitentiary System.

   If this is done, we will not be affected because in this country of maximum corruption the money is stolen by the bureaucrats and help is sold.

    We also ask that a Comission visit the panamanian jails, excluding El Renacer jail which is for wealthy people who, to be sent to that prison complex, pay up to USD$5,000.00.

    We ask that the Comission go inside the pavillions of La Joya and La Joyita without warning; that it interview privately, to avoid reprisals, with the inmates, at least two of each nationality, so as to realize the sub-human conditinos in which the detainees are held and the complete lack of human rights.

    This comission, let it not make a pleasure trip like last time.

    Only afterwards can resumption of help directed towards the real needs and continously supervised or monitored.

    If the prisoners themselves ask that no money be sent to the Sistema Penitenciario de Panamá it is because the corruption situation is extremely grave: we can't be any worse, at least no one will profit from our situation.
